The Arts Center at Duck Creek in Springs is partnering with the Boys and Girls Club of Shinnecock Nation, Indigenous educator Dyashwa Sylvester, and Indigenous author Shane Weeks to present “Shinnecock Perspectives.”
This event will honor indiginous Shinnecock culture through performances of music, dance, and storytelling. It will include traditional performances by Shinnecock Tribe’s Young Blood Singers and young members of the Boys and Girls Club Of Shinnecock Nation as well as a talk by Shane Weeks.
“‘Shinnecock Perspectives’ aims to explore the intersection between Indigenous heritage and the dynamic young Shinnecock creative community exploring what Indigenous identity means today,” said a statement from Duck Creek.
The event is free to attend and will take place on June 11 from 2 to 4 PM. The rain date will be June 12 from 2 to 4 PM. Registration at www.duckcreekarts.org is recommended.
