Albert Hill is an investor and entrepreneur focused on growth businesses across the Americas. He is co-founder and Managing Member of Rose Hill, and at 23, he co-founded Rose Hill Acquisition Corporation, a SPAC focused on Latin America that listed on Nasdaq and raised approximately $150 million. I believe the obligation of a next-generation family member mirrors that of a next-generation American. To inherit capital in its many forms, from financial resources and a strong education to a wide network and a deeply rooted sense of responsibility, is to receive both a great gift and a meaningful burden. The objective cannot simply be to preserve what one has received, but instead to build a new and lasting edifice as an inheritance to your descendants.
For me, that obligation translates to stewardship over the institutions that created this opportunity: a truly free democracy, a robust capitalist economy, strong families, and communities capable of transmitting values across generations. All of these are under strain today, exemplified by rising inequality, divisiveness, and the growing sense among Americans that they no longer hold a genuine stake in the prosperity of the nation. I do not believe the answer is to abandon these institutions, but to renew them with fervor and intent.
Artificial intelligence will be one of the defining tests of that responsibility. It could concentrate wealth and capability in fewer hands than ever before. It could also extend the gifts of prosperity more broadly by democratizing services once exclusive to the affluent: personalized healthcare, world-class tutoring, and the expert instruction alongside wide proliferation of music, athletics, literature, and other deeply human pursuits. The outcome will depend substantially on the intentions of those who build, fund, and govern these technologies. It is a process in which I intend to stake my legacy, and one in which many readers of this publication will play a substantial role through their capital and influence.
With that, I will share my core values of gratitude, agency, courage, passion, and responsibility: gratitude for what one has received, agency to create independently and intently, courage to improve imperfect institutions, passion to do so indomitably, and responsibility to consider who benefits from what one builds.
Legacy is not the inheritance you receive. It is whether your family, our society, and the generations that follow inherit a world that is more prosperous, more humane, and more fulfilling through your dedication to it.
