LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton hosted its annual Opera Al Fresco on Sunday September 4. Artistic Director Emerita of the Opera Orchestra of New York, Eve Queler, brought a cohort of musical talent to LongHouse for the community to enjoy on this late summer evening. Soprano Kirsten Chambers, Baritone Stephen Guenther, and Pianist Douglas Martin performed classics by Giordano, Leoncavallo, Mascagni, Verdi, and Wagner.

Each year this performance is made possible through the generosity of John Lawrence Githens, who dedicates the evening in remembrance to his wife, Ingeborg Ten Haeff, and LongHouse Founder Jack Lenor Larsen. Director Carrie Rebora Barratt thanked John and shared, “Music is a vital part of the LongHouse experience, as we engage all our senses. Listening is a gift, and while LongHouse rewards looking, smelling, touching, and tasting the deliciousness of a natural preserve, Jack always asked his visitors to listen to the enhancing sounds of music. So tonight, we listen.”

Guests included B.J. and Bob Adler, LongHouse Co-President Dianne Benson, George and Judy Beraka, Ennius and Judy Bergsma, LongHouse Co-President Nina Gillman, Mark Leuthold, Lys Marigold, Barbara Marcus, Kate and T.J. Miller, Stephanie Odegard, Peter Olsen, Michele and Steve Pesner, Connie and Larry Randolph, Ed Schiff and Betsy Pinover Schiff, Linda Willett, and Susan Wood.
