The Stony Brook East Hampton Emergency Department Is Open

At 10 AM on Thursday, May 22, the Stony Brook East Hampton Emergency Department opened to receive patients at 400 Pantigo Place in East Hampton. The state-of-the-art, 22,000-square-foot, off-campus emergency facility provides vital healthcare services to residents and visitors in the Town of East Hampton, including Amagansett, Montauk, Sag Harbor, and Springs.

As part of the Stony Brook Medicine (SBM) healthcare system, the East Hampton Emergency Department delivers world-class clinical care in alignment with Stony Brook’s commitment to serving the entire East End. This off-campus facility was designed specifically to provide essential care for those located at the farthest end of the South Fork of Long Island. It will operate 24/7, 365 days of the year, including holidays. The imaging center is open to non-emergent patients, who can schedule their appointments by calling Stony Brook Southampton Hospital at 631-396-6400 from 7 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.

“At Stony Brook Medicine, we are committed to expanding access to high-quality healthcare where it is needed most,” said William Wertheim, MD, MBA, Executive Vice President, Stony Brook Medicine. “The new Stony Brook East Hampton Emergency Department represents a significant step in ensuring that residents and visitors on the East End have timely access to expert emergency care, reinforcing our mission to deliver world-class healthcare closer to home.”

Strategically located adjacent to the East Hampton Healthcare Foundation building, the Stony Brook East Hampton Emergency Department is equipped with advanced diagnostic technologies and life-saving treatments including a dedicated resuscitation room, cardiac monitoring capabilities in every exam room, specialized fast-track treatment rooms for general, pediatric, obstetrics/gynecology and ophthalmology patients, two isolation rooms, a comprehensive imaging center, featuring advanced diagnostic technologies, including MRI, CT scan, Ultrasound and X-ray, an on-site ambulance for hospital transport, and eco-friendly innovations, including rooftop solar panels, a rain-catch garden and native plantings to reduce environmental impact.

“The East Hampton Emergency Department is staffed by Stony Brook Medicine specialists and board-certified emergency room physicians, nurses, and professionals,” said Carol Gomes, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer, Stony Brook University Hospital. “This beautiful, efficient new facility provides vital care and essential services to those who live, work, and visit furthest east on the South Fork of Long Island.”

“We, and our EMS partners in Amagansett, East Hampton, Springs, and Montauk, are excited that the Stony Brook East Hampton Emergency Department has opened,” said Emily Mastaler, Chief Administrative Officer, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. “This facility is one of only a few off-campus emergency departments in New York State.”

“We thank our donors for their generosity and commitment to this ambitious project,” said Jim Forbes, Chair, Southampton Hospital Association and Chair of the East Hampton Emergency Department Campaign Committee. “More than $32 million has been raised to date, and we are grateful for the $10 million state grant made to Stony Brook University Hospital, and the unwavering support of the Town of East Hampton and its residents throughout this planning process.”
