Flamingo Estate And Galerie Sardine Host Cocktails In Celebration Of Richard Christiansen’s New Book Launch

On Saturday, September 5, Flamingo Estate and Galerie Sardine hosted an afternoon of cocktails and light bites in Amagansett to celebrate the launch of Richard Christiansen’s newest book, “Pleasure Principles: An Almanac from the Garden.” Hosted by Christiansen alongside Galerie Sardine’s Valentina Ackerman, the gathering brought the spirit of “Pleasure Principles” to the East End, with food by Christina Crawford.

Launching on September 15 with Chronicle Books, “Pleasure Principles” is Flamingo Estate’s modern-day almanac — part field guide, part art book, and a love letter to the natural world. Moving month by month through the year, Christiansen draws inspiration from his own garden in the hills of Los Angeles, sharing stories, recipes, rituals, and practical wisdom centered around the plants, flowers, and pollinators that inhabit it.

At its heart, the book invites readers to slow down, reconnect with the natural world, and find what Christiansen calls “deep, radical pleasure” in the everyday. The gathering at Galerie Sardine offered guests an early celebration of the book ahead of its official release.
