Reflections of America: Student Perspectives at 250
This exhibition centers on the rich visual language of American iconography as a catalyst for student creativity. Drawing inspiration from influential American artists such as Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Cindy Sherman, Diane Arbus, Vivian Maier, Robert Frank, Andy Warhol, Edward Hopper, and Ralph Lauren, students explored how recognizable imagery, symbols, objects, and cultural references can be transformed into original works of art.
Throughout the planning of this exhibition, students engaged with familiar elements of American culture and reimagined them through their own artistic voices. From bold symbols to everyday imagery, these references became starting points for experimentation, allowing students to investigate composition, color, texture, and form in meaningful ways.
Working in painting, photography, fashion, printmaking, and mixed media, students embraced a variety of materials and processes, demonstrating creative curiosity. The result is a diverse and vibrant collection that highlights how shared visual references can inspire entirely unique expressions.
