Maureen’s Haven Homeless Outreach is celebrating 20 years of providing support services, programs, and emergency winter shelter to the homeless on the East End of Long Island.
To celebrate the milestone, and raise funds for the foundation, there will be a “Music For A Cause” concert at the Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett on Thursday, June 23. Enjoy an evening of dancing with the music of Klyph Black and Friends, the Hoodoo Loungers, Dan Koonz, Dave Portocarrero, and more.
Established in 2000, Maureen’s Haven has helped thousands of people on the East End when they were most in need. The group operates the Kay Kidde Achievement Center in Riverhead, which is the only day center of its kind in Suffolk County — offering homeless support services, case management, and programs. Guests have access to essentials such as food, clothing, toiletries, and other critical services.
Maureen’s Haven also operates the Emergency Winter Shelter Program, which provides a safe, warm place to sleep during the cold winter months. From November through the end of April, they partner with volunteers and houses of worships throughout the East End and can provide a place to sleep for up to 35 individuals each night.
“This life saving and critical program only works through the collaboration of some many caring individuals, civic, congregations, civic association, businesses, and youth groups,” read a statement from Maureen’s Haven. During the 2021/2022 Emergency Winter Shelter Season, they made over 6000 beds, a record number for the organization.
The event takes place at 6 PM. Tickets are $50 in advance, and $60 at the door the day of event if tickets are still available. For more information, contact Dan O’Shea at 631-727-6831 or dan@maureenshaven.org.
