The United Nations Women’s Peace & Humanitarian Fund has announced the launch of its Global Luminary Campaign. Alongside WPHF Global Advocate Kristen Bell, thirteen business leaders, philanthropists, photographers, and young feminists are raising vital funds to support WPHF’s work.
According to WPHF, women’s organizations receive less than one percent of aid allocated to countries in crisis. WPHF distributes funds to local and grassroots women’s civil society organizations that help in crisis settings worldwide, including settings with armed conflict, repression of rights, and violence against women and girls.
The campaign highlights inspiring stories and calls on individuals and corporations to invest more in women peacebuilders and rights defenders. WPHF actively supports women responding to crises in 46 countries worldwide. Since 2016, it has distributed $248 million to 1,460 civil society organizations on the front lines.

“In today’s rapidly shifting partnership landscape, those of us committed to the promise of peace must remain steadfast in our shared vision to make peace a reality for all,” said Tonni Brodber, the head of the WPHF Secretariat. “Today, we’re calling on everyone – from governments, philanthropists, corporations, and people just like you – to join us in solidarity with women who are risking so much to bring peace to their communities.”
“Today, we face the uncertainty of a rapidly shifting global landscape. Critical funding for foreign aid and gender equality initiatives are at severe risk, even as women and girls continue to bear the brunt of escalating crises worldwide… WPHF remains steadfast in its commitment to building a world where women are at the forefront of recovery, transformation, and lasting peace for all.” read a statement from WPHF.
The campaign will run through March 8, International Women’s Day. To donate to the campaign, visit wphfund.org/globalluminaries.
