The Surfrider Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection of the beaches on the East End and across the country, will host its annual One Ocean gala in Montauk.

One Ocean gala rallies one of Surfrider’s most dedicated communities to celebrate the organization’s coastal victories and raise critical funds to support its mission. Bringing together 350+ supporters and cultural icons from around the world, One Ocean gala cultivates a vibrant network of people who form the core of Surfrider and share a passion for protecting our ocean. Last year’s One Ocean gala raised more than half a million dollars to support Surfrider.

Funds support initiatives like Surfrider’s Eastern Long Island Blue Water Task Force, which improves beach water testing. They have also led campaigns for “Skip the Stuff” in East Hampton Village and New York City to reduce single-use plastic pollution from takeout.

“Although the threats to clean water and healthy beaches on Eastern Long Island are significant, we are making steady progress by raising awareness about water pollution, installing ocean-friendly gardens, and looking for solutions to chronic coastal erosion. Surfrider’s One Ocean gala is an opportunity to bring the community together, celebrate our collective impact, and raise funds to continue the important work of protecting our ocean, waves, and beaches,” said Dr. Chad Nelsen, CEO, Surfrider Foundation.

This year, One Ocean Gala returns to the iconic Crow’s Nest in Montauk on August 9, where guests enjoy views of Lake Montauk, DJ sets including Chris Gentile (Pilgrim Surf + Supply), craft cocktails and mocktails, one-of-a-kind silent and live auctions, and a farm-to-table dinner prepared by The Crow’s Nest.

The event will honor Wavemakers Taylor and Liev Schreiber. Long time supporters and passionate ocean conservation advocates, Taylor and Liev are motivated to help others understand the importance of our ocean and to lead by example in protecting it for future generations.

“I was blown away by everything Surfrider is doing to protect and conserve our ocean and coastlines. I knew I wanted to be involved. I am on the board of my family’s foundation, The Ludwick Family Foundation – and, each year, we give grants to organizations that are making the world a better place. Surfrider is doing exactly that, and our foundation has been honored to play a small part,” said Taylor Schreiber.

Sea Change co-hosts for the event are Sarah and Matt Jackson, and the host committee includes Julianne Moore and Bart Freundlich, Cynthia Rowley, Rufus Wainwright, Selby Drummond and Steven Dubb, Greg Long, Jayma Cardoso, Rachelle and Sean MacPherson, Christina and Howard Blaustein, and Shelby Meade.
