On Friday, August 11, at 5:30 PM, An Evening in the Garden at the Rogers Mansion in Southampton Village will be held. Funds raised from the event will help the Southampton History Museum complete its Capital Campaign and Grounds Restoration project. The event is underwritten and catered by Sant Ambroeus.
The Southampton History Museum has been at work redeveloping the grounds of the historic 1843 Rogers Mansion. Architect Siamak Samii provided the blueprint and Chris LaGuardia Design created a fresh look.
“We are delighted to announce Phase One completion focusing on the western half of the Rogers Mansion. This momentous undertaking has revitalized the iconic museum grounds, ensuring their preservation for future generations,” read a statement from the museum.
Southampton History Museum Trustee Seán Deneny added, “In addition to support under both administrations and trustees, it is the support of the professional members of our community that we owe a debt of gratitude. Having the right professional team with high-end skillsets at the top of their game enabled this undertaking to occur in fourteen months.”
Later this year, with village and Environmental Protection funding, work will commence on the exterior of the building, including repairs to the chimney, shutters, roof, windows, and doors.
The exhibit “Gilded Icons: Forgotten Treasures in the Samuel L. Parrish Collection” is on display and can be viewed during the event. To celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the Parrish Art Museum, the Southampton History Museum exhibits some forgotten treasures from the Samuel L. Parrish collection. It’s the same artwork Parrish had on display in the Parrish Art Museum when it first opened in 1897, recently found in the basement of the original Parrish Art Museum on Jobs Lane.
After strolling through the new exhibition of lost Renaissance artwork, guests will be serenaded with Brazilian music featuring John Ludlow’s Bosa Nova Trio. Mentalist Kevin Nicholas will entertain with up close and personal performances. A caricature artist will also be available to capture the moment with friends.
Tickets are available by calling the museum at 631-283-2492 or visiting southamptonhistory.org.
