The Horses Changing Lives benefit for The Center for Therapeutic Riding of the East End (CTREE) is back in its full glory on Thursday, August 25, from 6 to 9 PM at Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton. Guests will be treated to cocktails and hors d’oeuvres with both live and silent auctions of beautiful goods and extraordinary experiences, all with the backdrop of a beautiful sunset over the bay. “An evening in white,” with event chairs Nancy Grady and David Michaels is a huge draw for those who support the healing power of horses. CTREE provides therapeutic riding lessons and equine assisted services to children and adults with emotional, cognitive, and physical disabilities at its private facility in Sagaponack.
There is nothing like the look of joy when a child or adult rides or grooms one of CTREE’s five special therapeutic horses and forms a bond. Participants learn to communicate with their horse and develop riding and ground skills which help physically, cognitively, emotionally, and socially. The look of the families and caregivers is also incredible as they relax and enjoy these priceless moments of connection. CTREE is just coming off its successful summer camp and getting ready for the rest of their year-round activities. Volunteers are key to the organization’s success and they welcome all who are interested.
Executive Director Karen Bocksel said, “Our instructor/volunteer teams experience the ‘magic’ that happens with our participants and horses and it reignites our passion with every success, no matter how big or small.”
