The Children’s Museum of the East End (CMEE) has announced a leadership transition as the museum continues its mission to enrich the lives of children and families while strengthening the East End community through learning and play.
Liz Bard will assume the position of Executive Director of the Children’s Museum of the East End, and Lara Sweeney will step into the Executive Director role at LongHouse Reserve.
“It has been an absolute honor and joy to serve the Children’s Museum of the East End for the past 14 years. During this time, the Museum has grown in ways beyond my wildest imagination. From the creation of CMEE’s food pantry to last year’s installation of a brand new 9,000 sq. foot playground – the Museum is thriving! I’m grateful to have worked in close partnership with Liz Bard the past four years as Co-Presidents. Liz’s dedication, vision, and deep commitment to our community have been instrumental to CMEE’s success, and I am thrilled for her to step fully into this role and lead with energy, purpose, and heart for years to come,” said Lara Sweeney.
“Working alongside Lara Sweeney as Co-Presidents at The Children’s Museum of the East End for four years has been a true privilege. Together, we launched school preparation programs through CMEE’s Monday Night Academy and created an innovative 9,000 sq. ft. playground that will inspire East End families for generations. Lara has left a permanent mark on this institution, and I have no doubt her creativity and commitment will make an equally lasting impact at LongHouse Reserve. I look forward to continuing to lead CMEE as we grow and evolve through play and learning,” said Liz Bard.
CMEE advances its mission to spark imagination, support learning for children of all backgrounds and abilities, and build meaningful connections across the East End community through interactive exhibits, educational programming, and partnerships with local arts and social service organizations that address issues impacting families throughout the region.
