Dia Bridgehampton presents the opening of a yearlong exhibition of work by Leslie Hewitt.
Leslie Hewitt resides in Harlem, New York, and Houston, Texas. She has held residencies and solo presentations of her work at esteemed museums and institutes across the U.S. and abroad.
Experimenting with light, sound, and inertia, the exhibition features a series of low-profile sculptures accompanied by a score composed in collaboration with artist Jamal Cyrus. The work evokes the geography of the installation site and surrounding region, such as the three bronze sculptures that represent the Mecox, Peconic, and Shinnecock Bays and a fourth sculpture that incorporates a locally sourced boulder. Guests will be able to view Dan Flavin’s permanent installation, “Nine Sculptures in Fluorescent Light,” in conjunction with Hewitt’s exhibition.
Hewitt’s exhibition will run through June 5, 2023.
