Canoe Place Inn’s Front Row series continues on Thursday, May 18, with “Why Art Matters,” a discussion on the current state of art in America with Kristy Edmunds, the director of MASS MoCA.
Edmunds was recently appointed, bringing her experience at UCLA’s Center for the Art of Performance as well as her tenure as Artistic Director for the Melbourne Arts Festival to the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, continuing their robust tradition of celebrating evocative art in all forms: music, sculpture, dance, film, painting, photography, theater, and new, boundary-crossing works of art that defy easy classification.
Edmunds will discuss the importance of working collaboratively with artists as well as the role community plays in establishing art centers that are engaging, and serve to establish a sense of belonging and connection to the world.
The event will be held from 6:30 to 8 PM. Visit eventbrite.com to register.
