The Retreat, a leading nonprofit organization on Long Island dedicated to providing safety, shelter, and support for individuals and families impacted by domestic violence, abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking, hosted a successful fundraiser at Sportime Amagansett on July 19. Guests enjoyed an engaging afternoon of 105-style tennis alongside skilled pros, followed by cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and lively silent and live auctions. The event brought together members of the local community and raised more than $150,000 to support and sustain The Retreat’s vital, life-changing programs and services.
Hosted by Sportime Amagansett, the fundraiser was filled with energy and friendly competition amongst supporters of The Retreat, along with family and friends. The tennis portion of the event was followed by light bites and cocktails to accompany the speaker and the live auction, emceed by board members Kristen Erickson, with Markie Hancock, Kathryn Gregorio, and Anne Kothari as auctioneers. Board member and survivor Irma Negron shared her story and journey to finding The Retreat.
For nearly 40 years, The Retreat has been a lifeline for women and families in crisis, providing safe shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, and educational outreach. In 2024 alone, The Retreat provided more than 9,000 legal services and nearly 450 court accompaniments to those in need, all at no cost. In addition, The Retreat was there to answer over 3,000 calls to its multi-lingual 24-hour hotline. The organization also delivered prevention education to schools across the region.
