Southampton Arts Center’s current exhibition, “Clearing The Air,” presents art as a powerful tool for healing, both for the artist and the observer.
On Saturday, November 20, both curator and artist Jay Davis and artist Jef Scharf will lead programs, including silk screening and a gallery tour.
Scharf is a master printer, designer, and drawer, with works in the permanent collections of MoMA, the Whitney, the Met, and the New York Public Library. He will host an all-afternoon silk screening workshop from noon to 5 PM where participants will design, translate, and print images onto shirts and/or paper. Every person participating will take home two shirts and a print. Register at southamptonartscenter.org/studio.
Midday at 3 PM, Davis, who is also the curator of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s Ambulatory Care Arts Program, will lead a tour of the galleries to learn more about the exhibition, artists, and works on display. Participants can register at southamptonartscenter.org/talks.
