East Hampton Library Celebrates Record-Breaking Authors Night With Over 2,000 Attendees

The East Hampton Library presented its 21st annual Authors Night fundraiser on Saturday, August 9, under a grand tent on the Herrick Park field in East Hampton Village.

This year’s event was one for the books—with record-setting attendance of more than 2,000 attendees and record-setting book sales. More than $500,000 was raised for the East Hampton Library. Authors Night proceeds are used for essential programs and services at the East Hampton Library throughout the next year.

One of the most popular and celebrity-studded events of the Hamptons’ summer calendar, Authors Night featured 100 authors across all genres. The “Premier Literary Event of the Hamptons” has grown over its history to become one of the most successful celebrations of books and authors in America, and one of the largest library-author events of its kind in the country.

The evening began at 5 PM with the Authors Book Signing Cocktail Party under a grand tent, where guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and wine, met and mingled with the authors, bought their books, and had them personally inscribed. At 8 PM, guests with higher level tickets continued the evening at one of the sold-out Author Dinner Parties, held at private area homes in honor of one or more of the guest authors.
