East Hampton Village will hold its Centennial celebration this weekend, celebrating 100 years since the village was incorporated. The village, which was founded in 1648 and incorporated in 1920, postponed its celebration in 2020.
The festivities start on Friday, September 24, at 11 AM at Village Hall. East Hampton Village Mayor Jerry Larsen, the Board of Trustees, and the village’s religious leaders will give a blessing for the next hundred years and will also bury a time capsule which will be opened 100 years from now.
At 2 PM there will be an historical discussion in Herrick Park with Juliana Lester, Hugh King, and friends.
On Friday night there will be a Gala and Casino Night at The Maidstone Club at 7 PM. The party will have a Roaring Twenties theme. All proceeds will benefit the East Hampton Village Foundation. Tickets are $350 and can be found here.
On Saturday, September 25, starting at 9 AM, there will be a Children’s Fair in Herrick Park. Don’t miss a carousel, slides, and fun activities for children.
At 11 AM there will be the Centennial Parade on Main Street, followed by a music festival from 2 to 9 PM in Herrick Park. Visitors are urged to pick up lunch or dinner from their favorite restaurant to celebrate.
On Sunday, September 26, there will be a Classic Car Show with over a hundred classic cars on display in Herrick Park. Judges will give out 30 Best In Class Trophies. To register, visit www.northforkcruisers.org.
The weekend will conclude with a Maidstone vs Bonackers softball game in Herrick Park at 4 PM. Chief Gerard Turza and the fire department will BBQ. All proceeds will benefit the East Hampton Village Fire Department.
