Lens-based artist Estefany Molina will exhibit the photographic installation series “nightswimming,” with two upcoming events.
The first will be held Saturday, November 11, at Brooklyn Film Camera in East Williamsburg from 7 to 9 PM, with Kidd Squid Brewing as the beer sponsor. The week after, on Saturday, November 18, Molina will bring the show back to Matchbook Distilling Co in Greenport for an event from 3 to 6 PM.
“Not only is this an opportunity for those who missed it last year to catch it, for me this is all in celebration of having been selected to be a part of this year’s American Photography anthology by AI-AP with one of my pictures from the series,” said Molina.
American Photography is a prestigious annual publication that showcases photography that pushes boundaries across commercial and fine art spaces. This year also includes photographers Ryan McGinley, Phillip Montgomery, Benedict Evans, Chris Buck, Gillian Laub, James Natchwey, Art Streiber, Caroline Tompkins, and Dan Winters.
“The installation at Matchbook is a multi-sensory experience that dovetails the transformation of liquid (or else, spirit) with the distillation of emotions involved in the photographic process. You gotta move through it, work through it, to understand, much like nightswimming,” said Molina.
