Keyes Art Gallery and Sag Harbor Cinema will host a special night honoring legendary cartoonist, screenwriter, and author Jules Feiffer with a screening of Robert Altman’s beloved “Popeye,” starring Robin Williams and Shelley Duvall on Saturday, May 28. The screening will take place at 4 PM followed by a short Q&A moderated by SHC’s Artistic Director Giulia D’Agnolo Vallan.
Feiffer, who wrote the film as a tribute to E.C. Segar’s genial comic strip, will join in the post screening discussion.
The “Feiffer the Sailor Man!” celebration will continue after the film, from 6:30 to 8 PM, at Keyes Gallery, across the street, with a one night exhibit that pays homage to Feiffer’s love affair with show biz since he was a child. The selected pieces are his homage to musicals, and the extraordinary dancers Hollywood cultivated in the ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s.
