Four Interior Design Trends For 2021

Maybe it’s nostalgia for the pre-covid era, or maybe it’s the trauma of 2020, but interior styling is reaching back into the past and not trying to find trendiness in 2021. We, at James Lane, thought it might be fun to match local products with the hottest trends for this coming year.

RUSTIC CORE

This style is a the next evolution of the age-old shabby chic, which morphed into the cottage core revolution. While this look is a throwback to the comforts of your glamorous aunt’s summer home, it actually is more about foundation with touches of rustic. Exposed wood beams and unfinished doors are good examples of the rustic core trend, but balancing the foundational elements with pieces rounds out the vibe and look.

Black Is The New Black

The gray kitchen had its moment in 2020, but we’re going darker now. Benefits include clean-ups being easier, everything looks gorgeous against black, and it’s extremely elegant.

Ciuffo Cabinetry are the ultimate in luxury cabinetry and we highly recommend their work and products.

Granny Chic

Wallpaper is replacing shiplap walls and the more old-fashioned the better. You can find granny chic wallpapers at the Southampton One Kings Lane shop like this beauty.

Hamptons Loft

Maybe it’s the ‘rona, but we’re seeing a deconstruction of luxury frameworks and pieces. Think exposed brick, wrought iron, Edison style lighting, and rough walls. Check out this amazing crackle wallpaper or the Jenko chair by Elizabeth Dow in East Hampton.
