The art exhibition “Free Laundry” is on display at Clean By Meurice in East Hampton. The venue, located at 59 The Circle in East Hampton, hosted a cocktail party to kick-off the exhibit on July 7.
A percentage of all sales from the night were donated to AAPI organizations throughout New York City to help #stopasianhate.
“Free Laundry” is founded on the legacy of Asian immigration to the US, laundry shops have often been a default means for families to support and build their homes and futures. With an inspirational nod to the novel “Free Food For Millionaires” by Min Jin Lee, the core grouping of artists who are assembled here live and work in Korea.
All of the artists, regardless of their location, race, gender or sexual preference, have vested practical connections to the AAPI community and in their artistic practices share a reverence for Asia as a region, and as a source of inspiration.
