Artist As Archivist: Free Workshop With Kea Kahoilua-Clebsch

How can we become caretakers of our own histories? Join Ma’s House artist-in-residence Kea Kahoilua-Clebsch for Artist as Archivist, a free mixed-media workshop exploring personal and family archives.

Participants will experiment with collage, painting on photographs, scanning, layering, and other mixed-media techniques to transform and expand the stories we preserve. Together, we will consider what is missing from the record, whose stories we want to carry forward, and how remembering the past shapes the futures we imagine.

Kea Kahoilua-Clebsch is a visual artist from the Island of Hawaiʻi, currently based in the Bay Area. Through painting and family and historical archives, her work honors her ancestors and ʻohana. She holds a B.A. in Art Practice with honors from Stanford University.

Ty Wenzel, a recent breast cancer survivor, started her career as a fashion coordinator for Bloomingdale’s followed by fashion editor for Cosmopolitan Magazine. She was also a writer for countless publications, including having published a memoir (St. Martin's Press) and written features for The New York Times. She is an award-winning writer and designer who covers lifestyle, real estate, architecture and interiors for James Lane Post. She previously worked as a writer and marketing director for The Independent. She has won multiple PCLI and NYPA awards for journalism, social media and design, including best website design and best magazine for James Lane Post, which she co-founded in 2020. Wenzel is also the founder of the Hamptons social media agency, TWM Luxury Solutions.
