Before Hoie: Helen Bencker, Fashion Designer With Jackie Scerbinski

The Nathaniel Rogers House - The Bridgehampton Museum

Before marrying artist Claus Hoie, Helen Hoie went by Helen Hunt Bencker and was a top fashion designer working in 1940’s/50’s New York City specializing in lingerie. Join us for a look into some of her work and the history behind the lingerie industry and how it changed over time. Jackie Scerbinski formerly worked as a corporate buyer for the May Department Stores (now Macys) and specifically worked with lingerie. She taught Fashion courses at Berkeley College and CUNY Kingsborough.
