Community Forum for Preservation

place Wainscott Chapel Wainscott Chapel expand_more
Organized by arrow_forward_ios Wainscott Heritage Project

Wainscott Heritage Project will again host a Community Forum with preservation consultant Sarah Kautz at Wainscott Chapel on Saturday, June 29, at 10:00 am. On this second occasion, Sarah will provide an update on the Wainscott Reconnaissance Survey, answer questions about this project, and suggest what we all can do to help preserve and protect Wainscott's heritage.

A Reconnaissance Survey is the first step towards identifying historic properties and understanding their significance within local, state and/or national historic contexts. The purpose of a Reconnaissance Survey is to establish basic historical and/or architectural contexts associated with the development and physical character of an area. For this project, Wainscott Heritage Project received a substantial grant in 2023 from the Preservation League of NYS and partners NYSCA and Gardiner Foundation.

Though geared toward Wainscott residents and focused on preserving Wainscott, this Community Forum welcomes anyone interested in history and preservation efforts and wanting to learn more about what can be done to preserve the history and character of the places we cherish.
