The FoodLab’s next edition of “Tea Talk Tuesdays” will feature Joseph M. Pierce, founding director of the Native American and Indigenous Studies (NAIS) Initiative at Stony Brook University, on Tuesday, December 2, at Stony Brook Southampton.

Pierce is an associate professor in the Department of Hispanic Languages and Literature, a citizen of Cherokee Nation and the author of Speculative Relations: Indigenous Worlding and Repair. In this new book, Pierce considers the potential of Indigenous relations as a means of repairing the damages of history.

His talk will explore Indigenous art and culture not as objects of study, but through relationships grounded in reciprocity and care for human and more-than-human beings. It is a meaningful opportunity to learn from a leading voice in Indigenous studies and relational thought.

The event will be held at 3:30 pm at the Carriage House at Stony Brook Southampton. It is free and open to the public, and copies of Pierce’s book will be available for purchase. Register online.
