Eliza Lu Doyle and Em Gallagher: Movers & Bathers

The Arts Center at Duck Creek is thrilled to announce an upcoming two person exhibition featuring artists Eliza Lu Doyle and Em Gallagher, opening Saturday, August 13 and on view through Sunday, September 29, 2024. A reception will be held on Saturday, August 31, from 5-7 pm.
Movers & Bathers is a two-person exhibition of works by Eliza Lu Doyle and Em Gallagher, combining pre-existing works with new works. Both Doyle and Gallagher explore queer embodiment and physical interdependence in an era continually defined by a sense of groundlessness. The artists use their respective tools – collage, photography, and video – to plumb the poetics of bodies that move in relation to a shifting ground. They (Doyle and Gallagher) have been using the term “queer entropy” to describe a kind of falling together, falling apart, and reconstituting. We stage exercises of bodily entanglement and uncertainty: swimming and wrestling; lingering, lounging and sparring at the shore’s edge.
The Arts Center at Duck Creek is a New York State-recognized 501(c)(3) entity, located at
Historic Duck Creek Farm in East Hampton, NY.
