On Our Toes In The Hamptons: Building Our Heaven

Co-presented by National Black Theatre (NBT) and the Coalition for African Americans in the Performing Arts (CAAPA), On Our Toes in The Hamptons: Building Our Heaven is an interdisciplinary performance celebrating the spiritual and artistic evolution of Black classical music. Blending live music, dance, and spoken word, the program features acclaimed pianist and composer Damien Sneed, soprano Angela Renée Simpson, bass Solomon Howard, poet Mahogany L. Browne, Evidence Dance Company, and musicians from The Orchestra for Tomorrow. Together, they explore the enduring legacy of Black artistry through classical repertoire, African American sacred traditions, jazz, and poetry in a powerful afternoon of performance and cultural expression.

Ty Wenzel

Ty Wenzel, a recent breast cancer survivor, started her career as a fashion coordinator for Bloomingdale’s followed by fashion editor for Cosmopolitan Magazine. She was also a writer for countless publications, including having published a memoir (St. Martin's Press) and written features for The New York Times. She is an award-winning writer and designer who covers lifestyle, real estate, architecture and interiors for James Lane Post. She previously worked as a writer and marketing director for The Independent. She has won multiple PCLI and NYPA awards for journalism, social media and design, including best website design and best magazine for James Lane Post, which she co-founded in 2020. Wenzel is also the founder of the Hamptons social media agency, TWM Luxury Solutions.
