Sag Harbor Cinema’s Third Annual Festival of Preservation

Sag Harbor Cinema Sag Harbor Cinema, Main Street, Sag Harbor, NY, USA

Sag Harbor Cinema’s Festival of Preservation returns for a third year, November 17th through the 20th. The Festival of Preservation is the East End’s only film festival entirely devoted to the preservation of film and its culture, showcasing restored cinema classics, rarities, and rediscoveries.

Some of this year’s program highlights include screenings from Senegalese visionary Djibril Diop Mambéty; Salvador Dalí’s collaborations with Hitchcock and Walt Disney; pioneering women filmmakers of the silent era; Warner Bros’ roaring Thirties; Mexican musical melodrama; and a live presentation of William Castle’s bloodcurdling The Tingler. The Festival will also feature a wide variety of guests from several major studios, TCM, and the Women’s Film Preservation Fund.

On the third floor of Sag Harbor Cinema, there will be a special exhibition of rare posters from the personal collection of Joe Lauro, archivist, filmmaker, and CEO of the Historic Film Archives. The exhibit, focusing on the first forty years of cinema, will be on view through the end of the year.

Tickets, passes, and more programming details are available at sagharborcinema.org.

The annual Sag Harbor Cinema Festival of Preservation is made possible by the generous support of our presenting sponsor, Warner Bros-Discovery, with additional support from the Suffolk County Film Commission.
