Sofia Coppola has unveiled two new dates for her Sundays with Sofia series at the historic Cherry Lane Theatre in New York City — Albert Magnoli’s “Purple Rain” on November 8 and John McTiernan’s “Die Hard” on December 13. Both screenings will include an introduction by Coppola.
The events continue Coppola’s longstanding relationship with the theatre, following previous Sundays with Sofia showings of Bob Fosse’s “All That Jazz,” Martin Scorsese’s “Goodfellas” — which featured a talkback with Michael Imperioli — Elaine May’s “The Heartbreak Kid,” and more.

Earlier this month, Cherry Lane revealed the latest iteration of its BookTalk series: poet, writer, and performer Patti Smith alongside fast-rising Swiss writer Nelio Biedermann on November 5. In partnership with McNally Jackson Books, the pair discuss Smith’s latest memoir, “Bread of Angels,” and Biedermann’s acclaimed English-language debut, “Lázár.” Guests will be treated to a rare signing event with both authors following the conversation.
