Twelfth Annual Katy’s Courage 5K

Katy’s Courage (P.O. Box 3251, Sag Harbor, NY 11963 www.katyscourage.org) is hosting the twelfth annual Katy’s Courage 5K on Saturday, April 13, rain or shine. Proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to local scholarships.  Participants may register online in advance at https://bit.ly/3P3vhBG.

On race day, registration and check-ins will take place from 7 to 8:15 a.m. and the run will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. Runners will start at 21 West Water Street in Sag Harbor, head north and make a right onto Main Street, make a right onto Glover Street, run through the Redwood section of the course and finish back on Water Street. Cost is $25 in advance and $30 day of the race. For more information and sponsorship opportunities, please visit www.katyscourage.org.

Katy’s Courage is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization honoring Katy Stewart, an inspirational 12-year-old girl who died from a rare form of pediatric liver cancer. The organization is dedicated to supporting education, children’s bereavement counseling and pediatric cancer research.

Ty Wenzel, a recent breast cancer survivor, started her career as a fashion coordinator for Bloomingdale’s followed by fashion editor for Cosmopolitan Magazine. She was also a writer for countless publications, including having published a memoir (St. Martin's Press) and written features for The New York Times. She is an award-winning writer and designer who covers lifestyle, real estate, architecture and interiors for James Lane Post. She previously worked as a writer and marketing director for The Independent. She has won multiple PCLI and NYPA awards for journalism, social media and design, including best website design and best magazine for James Lane Post, which she co-founded in 2020. Wenzel is also a co-founder of the meditation app for kids, DreamyKid, and the Hamptons social media agency, TWM Hamptons Social Media.
