HamptonsFilm Now Accepting Submissions For 29th Annual Film Festival

HamptonsFilm is now accepting submissions for the 29th Annual Hamptons International Film Festival, which will be held October 7 to 13. Submissions can be made via Film Freeway until May 18.

With four competitive categories in narrative feature, documentary feature, narrative short film, documentary short film, and programs in seven non-competitive categories, the Hamptons International Film Festival seeks diverse films made by filmmakers who traverse the globe in order to tell their stories through different cultural styles and experiences.

At last year’s festival, HamptonsFilm handed out over $29,500 in cash awards and $130,000 in goods and services. Additionally, last year HamptonsFilm announced the Inaugural Peter Scott Macgregor Memorial Award. The award, which recognizes narrative short filmmakers and rewards creative approaches to solving practical production challenges in the service of storytelling, comes with a $10,000 prize.

Additional festival awards includes HIFF Awards for Best Narrative Feature, Best Documentary, Best Narrative Short Film, and Best Documentary Short Film as well as the 2020 Brizzolara Family Foundation Award to Films of Conflict and Resolution, Victor Rabinowitz and Joanne Grant Award for Social Justice, New York Women in Film & Television Award for Directing and Award For Excellence in Documentary Filmmaking, and the University Short Film Awards.

HIFF was founded to celebrate independent film and to introduce a unique and varied spectrum of international films and filmmakers to our audiences. 2019 marked the 10th time in a row that a film in the Festival has become the eventual Best Picture winner at the Oscars, making HIFF the only Festival in the world with such a distinction.
