Ma’s House in Shinnecock presents a solo exhibition of June resident artist Brianna L. Hernández. “Beloved Arts” will run from June 18 to July 1, with an opening reception on Saturday, June 18, from 5 to 7 PM.
The exhibition will feature new and recent works in the gallery and outdoors as part of the artist’s series on end-of-life care. Visitors are encouraged to meet the artist now through June 30, with visits by appointment.
Hernández is a Chicana artist, curator, educator, and death doula based on the Shinnecock Nation. The artist serves as Board Secretary of Ma’s House and is currently the Curatorial Fellow at the Parrish Art Museum.
Through performative video art, immersive installations, and living sculptures, Hernández’s work expresses the complex layers of end-of-life care, the dying process, grief, and mourning rituals based on lived experiences, cultural research, and collaborations with others in the field.
