The Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill will hold its annual two-day Midsummer celebration on Friday, July 8 and Saturday, July 9.
The Midsummer Dance will take place on July 8 from 8 to 11 PM, featuring a DJ set by Papi Juice. The Midsummer Dinner will take place on July 9 from 6:30 to 10:30 PM, featuring cocktails and a seated dinner. The dinner honors Racquel Chevremont and Mickalene Thomas, curators of the exhibition “Set It Off” and collectively known as Deux Femmes Noires, and philanthropist/collector Miyoung Lee.
During the event, guests will be able to view “Set It Off” and “An Art of Changes: Jasper Johns Prints, 1960-2018″ in the Parrish galleries and Meadow. “Set It Off” draws together bold, boundary-pushing work from six international female artists: Leilah Babirye, Torkwase Dyson, February James, Kameelah Janan Rasheed, Karyn Olivier, and Kennedy Yanko. The exhibition features more than 50 works and many of them combine mediums. “An Art of Changes: Jasper Johns Prints, 1960-2018″ showcases highlights from his six-decade practice in printmaking. Some of the motifs present among the 70 works include intaglio, lithography, woodcut, linoleum cut, screen printing, and leaf relief include the American flag, numerals, and the English alphabet.
