ArtSprings Exhibition & Opening: A Plea for the Animals

ArtSprings Studio in East Hampton will host its second exhibition, “A Plea for the Animals,” from Saturday, July 2 to Sunday, July 31.

ArtsSprings Studio is a private art space founded by Barbara Thomas offering interactive art events and projects, art classes, and showcases of work from emerging and established artists alike. The new exhibition centers around the relationship between humans and animals and the urgency of empathy for animal life.

The displayed work is inspired by the book “A Plea for the Animals: The Moral, Philosophical, and Evolutionary Imperative to Treat All Beings with Compassion” by Buddhist philosopher Matthieu Ricard. The exhibition will feature work from artists Scott Bluedorn, Emily Brown, Idoline Duke, Candace Hill-Montgomery, Christa Maiwald, Russell Munson, James Elliott Shelton, Max Siebel, and Barbara Thomas. They explore themes from Ricard’s book through print, drawing, painting, sculpture, weaving, and sound.

There will be a private opening reception for the exhibition on Saturday, July 2.
