The Southampton Animal Shelter’s Volunteer of the Month for July is Claire Spettell.
Spettell of Hampton Bays recently joined the SASF team and has already become a huge asset to the shelter. According to the shelter, Spettell comes multiple times a week to the shelter to help walk pups, is a wonderful photography assistant for the adoptable animals, and provides support wherever needed. She has joined for almost all offsite events to walk adoptable dogs and speaks to the community about what the shelter does. She shows compassion for every animal and can make a nervous dog feel safe.
“I know I can always count on Claire for our offsite events and our pups appreciate her for that too,” said Crystal Monaco, SASF Community Engagement Coordinator. “Having volunteers to help with offsite adoption events means we can expose them to more environments in a positive way and help them find a forever home. Thank you so much Claire for coming into all of our lives!”
“Volunteering at SASF has been so inspiring! The staff are extremely caring and knowledgeable about each animal, and so dedicated to finding each animal a home (and the right home for them!). After recently retiring, volunteering at SASF has been a great way for me to meet new people, spend time with dogs and cats and help a great organization! I enjoy the many different volunteer opportunities at the shelter and helping out at events in the community with the dogs,” said Spettell.
