The Hamptons Festival of Music brings its new Summer Salon Series to life for the Hamptons cultural arts community.
“We are thrilled to bring these ‘music and art in concert’ events to the Hamptons cultural arts community. We are committed to making the East End a premiere music destination for unique and memorable classical music performances,” said Michael Palmer, artistic director, TH·FM.
On Monday, August 14, at 830 PM, arriving under the same tent in Herrick Park in East Hampton Village, following the iconic Author’s Night event that weekend, TH·FM presents a screening of Charlie Chaplin’s classic silent film, “A Dog’s Life,” with a live film score by Chaplin performed live onstage by TH·FM Salon Orchestra, conducted by Logan Souther, TH·FM’s associate conductor.
In partnership with The Hamptons International Film Festival, this free community special event is made possible by a generous donation from an anonymous local family in memory of their mother, whose great joy was sharing music with all, especially children.
On August 19 at 5 PM, TH·FM returns to LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton for a final Salon performance, “The Seasons @ LongHouse,” in an immersive concert experience focused on Astor Piazzolla’s Four Seasons of Buenos Aries. The concert presents Piazzolla’s tango-inspired, virtuosic music in the unique setting of the glassed-in lower level of the LongHouse Pavilion, featuring violin soloist Annie Chalex-Boyle with Maestro Palmer conducting the TH·FM Salon Orchestra, performed against the backdrop of the natural beauty and art on the LongHouse Reserve. For tickets, visit the LongHouse site.
TH·FM’s mission to promote and preserve the legacy of classical music and related arts is evidenced in its commitment to these Salon Series concerts, which aim to embrace the wide-ranging and diverse communities within the Hamptons. The Hamptons Festival of Music returns in early September for its second mainstage season of three orchestral concerts featuring The New American Sinfonietta, a 41-member orchestra comprised of top-level musicians and principal players with major North American orchestras led by TH·FM Artistic Director Michael Palmer. TH· FM’s full orchestra concerts return to LTV Studios on September 3, 8, and 10.
