The 2022 North Fork TV Festival will return to Greenport honoring legendary and Emmy-nominated actress J. Smith-Cameron with this year’s Canopy Award. She will be honored at a gala celebration dinner on Saturday, October 22, at Claudio’s, where the North Fork TV Festival will also introduce the festival’s new Executive Director Monica Halpert.
Entering its eighth year, The North Fork TV Festival champions the evolution of television and the independent spirit of the North Fork, while convening the innovative minds of executives and emerging creators, directors, writers, and actors.
Its year-round artist development initiatives and annual festival encompass a broad program that includes curated independent pilots, workshops for talented episodic writers, industry discussions about the future of the medium, and each year honors distinguished industry leaders, including Christopher Jackson, Patina Miller, Kelsey Grammer, Constance Wu, Aasif Mandvi, and Bridget Moynihan.
J. Smith-Cameron’s career has spanned over four decades. She currently stars as a series regular on the acclaimed HBO show “Succession.” Her portrayal of Gerri Kellman, Waystar Royco’s General Counsel, garnered Smith-Cameron a Critics Choice Award nomination and has quickly become a fan favorite in the Emmy Award-winning series.
Up next, Smith-Cameron will star in Blumhouse and Focus Features thriller “Vengeance,” set to release theatrically on July 29, marking the directorial debut of B.J. Novak. She will appear opposite Novak, Issa Rae, and Ashton Kutcher.
Recently announced, she will star in New Line’s feature adaptation of John Green’s “Turtles All The Way Down,” as well as Paramount+’s “American Tragedies: Waco – The Trials” opposite John Leguizamo.
