The Watermill Center presents STAND, its 30th anniversary Summer Benefit. Presented by Van Cleef and Arpels, the event highlights art, theater, music, design, and fashion. It will feature performances, installations, cocktails, and small bites from local Chef Colin Ambrose.Â
The name of the event is inspired by the H.G. Wells quote “if you fell down yesterday, stand up today” and the Watermill Center’s recognition of the importance of standing in solidarity with communities both domestic and abroad that are facing challenges.Â
During STAND, the Center will open public presentations by U.S. and international artists, including Elettra Bottazzi (Italy), Robson Catalunha (Brazil), Deniz Celebic (Turkey), Yeliz Celebic (Turkey), NiNi Dongnier (China), Laurent Le Gall (France), Liz Glynn (United States), Tsubasa Kato (Japan), Christopher Knowles (United States), Taeyi Lim (Korea), Niccolo Masini (Italy), Hollie Miller (United Kingdom), Robert Nava (United States), Adam Parker Smith (United States), Vilim Poljanec (Croatia), Matthew Shipp (United States), Xu Zhen (China), and more.
The Center will also present the opening of solo exhibitions by returning alumni artist Christopher Knowles and Inga Maren Otto Fellowship resident Robert Nava at the benefit. Knowles’s exhibition features work from all periods of his artistic career, including drawings, typings, painting, sculpture, soundwork, and performance. Nava’s exhibition features contemporary drawings and animations.Â
The benefit will take place on Saturday, July 30 from 6 to 9 PM and all proceeds will go toward the Watermill Center’s year-round programming. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit watermillcenter.org.
