The Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center Celebrates Indian Cinema With Fundraiser And Film

The Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center presents it’s very first fundraiser and film screening dedicated to the rich history and vibrant future of Indian cinema. Dubbed “Bollywood in the Hamptons,” this event will take place on August 27, first beginning at a private residence in Westhampton Beach at 3:30 PM for a spread of Indian delicacies, followed by a film screening of “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” at the theatre at 6 PM.

“This fundraiser will support cultural exploration, entertainment, and social impact,” said WHBPAC Marketing Director Heather Draskin.

The fundraiser celebrates the rich tapestry of Indian cinema. Indian cinema has a legacy that spans over a century, touching the hearts and minds of people around the world. From iconic classics to modern masterpieces, it has influenced and inspired generations of filmgoers. This fundraiser aims to pay homage to this extraordinary cinematic heritage by showcasing the diversity, creativity, and depth of Indian storytelling through film.

The centerpiece of this event is a special screening of the hit Hindi-language film “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,” directed by acclaimed filmmaker Karan Johar and starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt as a couple with contrasting personalities who decide to live with each other’s families for three months prior to marriage. Hilarity ensues in this modern-spin on a classic parable – how do loved ones overcome their differences while respecting societal customs and norms? With stunning costumes, outrageous choreography, and a stellar supporting cast, “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” is not to be missed.

However, this event isn’t solely about entertainment; it’s also an opportunity to make a positive impact. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards the WHBPAC’s mission of fostering artistic expression, supporting aspiring filmmakers, and creating inclusive spaces for cultural exchange. By attending this event, attendees will be directly contributing to the growth of the local arts community and helping to preserve the magic of cinema for future generations.

“We believe that cinema is a universal language that transcends borders and connects us all,” said Julienne Penza-Boone, WHBPAC Executive Director. “Through this fundraiser, we aim to celebrate the beauty of Indian cinema and emphasize its role in shaping our identities and collective experiences. We are very excited to share this film with our audience.”
