The Southampton Arts Center will hold two film screenings this coming weekend.
On Saturday, June 5, at 7 PM, in partnership with Musings, join for an evening of short documentary films and a discussion. The evening will focus on the intersection between the human and natural world — how communities around the world are being impacted by the climate crisis.
The pre-film panel discussion will include filmmaker Susan Rockefeller, artist Diane Tuft, associate professor of Africana Studies and History at Stony Brook University Abena Asare, Shinnecock artist and cultural consultant Shane Weeks, and moderator Nicole Delma, founder of HIFF’s Environmental Category. From Malaysia to Memphis, Ethiopia to the Navajo Nation, and the Louisiana Bayou to Northern Kenya, the documentaries being screened are meant to educate and inspire action.
On Sunday, June 6, at 7 PM, join for a screening and panel discussion for the film “Fantastic Fungi,” a consciousness-shifting film is about the mycelium network, through the eyes of scientists and mycologists like Paul Stamets, best-selling authors like Michael Pollan, Eugenia Bone, Andrew Weil and others, discussing the beauty, intelligence and solutions that fungi kingdom offers in response to pressing medical, therapeutic, and environmental challenges.
The panel discussion will included David Falkowski from Open Minded Organics and artist Scott Bluedorn.
