The Church in Sag Harbor will be hosting a conversation with artist-in-residence and educator Sheila Pepe.
Pepe is known for her large-scale crocheted installations. The Church’s “Threading the Needle” exhibition will feature one of her pieces that will hang from the rafters, integrating the historic architecture with the art. Beyond her fiber work, the artist has spent over 30 years crafting a family resemblance in sculpture, drawing, and hybrid forms. Sara Cochran, The Church’s Chief Curator, will interview Sheila on her work in the exhibition, discussing Shelia’s process and planning of her piece that incorporates the structure of The Church itself.
The conversation will take place on Friday June 24 at 6 PM and tickets can be purchased for $15 at www.thechurchsagharbor.org. Sheila’s large-scale crochet piece can be viewed in the “Threading the Needle” exhibition at The Church from July 1 to September 18.
