A Talk With the ness Founders Colette Dong & Aly Giampolo

the ness is a low-impact, high-intensity trampoline workout holding a summer residency at Topping Rose House. Its signature trampoline classes absorbs the impact on the knees and joints, increases lymphatic drainage, strengthens the pelvic floor, and requires stability throughout the workout which can help increase bone density and balance.

We caught up with founders Colette Dong and Aly Giampolo to learn more.

What inspired you to start the ness?

After dedicating the first 20+ years of our lives studying and practicing movement, we met as professional dancers in New York City. While training, we were both warned that running and other high impact workouts would be detrimental to our professional dance careers. In search of a high-intensity, low-impact option, we discovered the trampoline as a satisfyingly sweaty form of cross-training. Experiencing what a positive impact the unique piece of equipment had on both our personal bodies and minds, we were inspired to concentrate a method and share the lasting benefits of rebounding with our community.

Tell us a little about your residence at Topping Rose House this summer?

This isn’t our first pop up out east, but this summer is extra special because it’s the first summer we are able to offer our signature bounce classes. Topping Rose House has been wonderful in helping to facilitate the logistics surrounding the trampolines. We offer two morning classes per day every Wednesday through Sunday. One bounce class and one sculpt class.

What should guests expect when they sign up for a class?

the ness trampoline absorbs the impact on the knees and joints, strengthens the pelvic floor, increases lymphatic drainage and requires more stability throughout the entire workout which helps increase bone density and balance. Paired with the coordination and mental release of the ness method, the health benefits and the full body workout (all from one piece of equipment) are incredible. Outside of being extremely effective, it is truly joyful and will leave you looking forward to your next workout.

What’s next for you and the ness?

We have a really busy fall coming up! You can expect to see us back at our Tribeca studio as well as expanding locations within New York City. We also have some exciting events and partnerships coming up to finish out the year.
