Global Strays — a foundation that aims to reduce animal suffering in impoverished regions within Latin America by funding shelters and creating longterm partnerships with communities — will present its third annual benefit, Redefining Animal Welfare, on Thursday, September 2, from 6 to 9 PM, at NAIA Hamptons in Southampton.
“We will be honoring those fighting for global animal welfare and our programs for pets, strays, and working horses in underserved communities,” said Elizabeth Shafiroff, the president of Global Strays.
The event’s animal champion guests of honor are two Global Strays advisory council members, Jas Leverette, the host of “Canine Intervention” on Netflix, and animal activist Georgina Bloomberg.
Global Strays focuses on the health of animals as well as people, and their shared environment. The foundation funds monthly upkeep of shelters, spay and neuter clinics, veterinary care, working horse clinics, educational clinics, and stray sterilization. Global strays not only helps animals, but also pet owners and owners with working horses — allowing for healthy horses that help sustain families’ livelihoods.
“A brief presentation will highlight our holistic approach to animal welfare with testimonials from the community members we educate, engage and empower,” said Shafiroff. “This is a unique opportunity to mingle with an animal loving, environmentally conscious crowd while supporting our mission.”
A silent auction, specially curated by Global Strays staff, will include environmentally conscious, cruelty-free fashion, beauty, and pet brands. There will also be hors d’oeuvres served and a two hour open bar.
The attire is “colorful cocktail” and guests are encouraged to wear the Global Strays colors of blue, green, or orange.
Tickets start at $200 and can be purchased by visiting globalstrays.org.
