AB NY Gallery in East Hampton will host an exhibition curated by Sarah Scribner and Olivia Phillips-Falk entitled “Multiple Choice” featuring new paintings by Elise Ansel and Suzannah Wainhouse and sculpture by Luke Kooper.
Alchemical transformation is at the heart of the exhibition. The displayed works reflect the artists’ interpretation of ancient, historical forms through the lens of contemporary culture. Ansel’s work “dissects monuments in the history of painting and transforms their disjecta membra into her own painterly idiom,” said Alfred Mac Adam in “The Brooklyn Rail” in 2018. Suzannah Wainhouse’s work uses primordial shapes to convey ideas related to mysticism and alchemy and Luke Kooper’s totemic sculptures transform the structural rigidity of wood into something graceful and alive.
The exhibition will run from September 2 through September 25. There will be an opening reception on Friday, September 2 from 4 to 7 PM.
