i-tri (www.itrigirls.org), the community-based program that fosters self-respect, personal empowerment, self-confidence, positive body image and healthy lifestyle choices for middle school aged girls, will host the Riverhead Building Supply Hamptons Youth Triathlon on Saturday, July 13. The triathlon will begin at approximately 7:30 a.m. at Long Beach in Sag Harbor and is open to kids aged 10 – 17. The super sprint-distance triathlon is held in one of the most beautiful locations on Long Island and features a 300-yard swim, 6-mile bike ride and 1.5-mile run.
Theresa Roden, i-tri's Founder and Chief Visionary Officer is looking forward to the annual event. “Each year, triathlon day is incredible. Seeing the girls transform over the course of the program from February to race day is phenomenal. And this year, our program team has been working with so many more participants, which really is a testament to i-tri and the need for this program in our communities.” Roden went on to say that she invites “everyone to witness the finish line moments for yourselves on race day—please come down to cheer these incredible 6th, 7th, and 8th graders as they cross the finish line.”
The RBS Hamptons Youth Triathlon also wraps up i-tri’s “Help Her Cross the Finish Line” Spring Campaign, which kicked off this past April at their Mentoring Day. Enrollment in i-tri this year across its 13 partner schools from Mastic to Montauk has increased by 20%, revealing the great need for and efficacy of the organization. The cost for each young person to participate is approximately $3,000. The goal of the campaign is to raise funds to provide the girls with bicycles, swim caps, athletic gear and other resources to compete in the program’s hallmark event, The Hamptons Youth Triathlon. The fundraising goal is set at $120,000 and i-tri is seeking donations between now and July 13th. Donations can be made by visiting https://itrigirls.org.
Packet pickups will take place on Friday, July 12 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Geary Sports (28 Hill Street, Southampton, NY 11968). Packet pickup will also be available on race day for an additional fee. Please visit https://events.elitefeats.com/24hyt for more details and to register your child. All proceeds from the event will benefit i-tri. The Hamptons Youth Triathlon is proudly sponsored by Riverhead Building Supply.
