Colonial Southampton: Halsey House Tour

Halsey House & Garden Halsey House & Garden

Journey back to 1640, when the first English settlers landed at Conscience Point and encountered the Shinnecock people. Learn how these early colonists adapted to a new land, spending eight formative years in Olde Towne as their numbers grew and their community took shape. Follow their progress through time, culminating in the establishment of Southampton’s iconic Main Street in 1648. This compelling story of survival, cooperation, and growth offers a vivid glimpse into the early days of one of America’s oldest English settlements.

The tour is guided by Laurie Collins, Museum Manager at the Southampton History Museum.

This program is free, but space is limited. RSVP is encouraged.

The Southampton History Museum's free public programs are made possible, in part, by a Suffolk County Omnibus Grant and by funding from the residents of the Southampton Union Free School District. Thanks to the generous support of our community, admission to all of the museum's historic sites and exhibitions is also free to the public.
