East End Run Club Hosts Fundraiser for Local Runner Battling Cancer

On Sunday, March 23, 2025, the East End Run Club is hosting a fundraiser at Publick House in Southampton, to support their fellow runner and friend, Fernando, in his fight against cancer. The event will take place from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, featuring an open bar (beer, wine, soft drinks, light snacks), raffles with incredible prizes donated by local businesses, and a vibrant gathering of community members rallying behind Fernando.

Fernando, a beloved member of the running community, is not only known for his determination and grit as an athlete but also for his unwavering support of others. Whether pacing friends in races, offering encouragement on long runs, or fundraising for the American Cancer Society, Fernando has always been the first to show up for those around him. Now, the community is coming together to return the favor.

Tickets are $50 and will be sold at the door (cash only). Proceeds will go toward helping Fernando cover his mounting medical expenses.

Join us for an afternoon of camaraderie, generosity, and hope as we stand with Fernando in his fight.

Ty Wenzel, a recent breast cancer survivor, started her career as a fashion coordinator for Bloomingdale’s followed by fashion editor for Cosmopolitan Magazine. She was also a writer for countless publications, including having published a memoir (St. Martin's Press) and written features for The New York Times. She is an award-winning writer and designer who covers lifestyle, real estate, architecture and interiors for James Lane Post. She previously worked as a writer and marketing director for The Independent. She has won multiple PCLI and NYPA awards for journalism, social media and design, including best website design and best magazine for James Lane Post, which she co-founded in 2020. Wenzel is also a co-founder of the meditation app for kids, DreamyKid, and the Hamptons social media agency, TWM Hamptons Social Media.
