NORTH FORK & HAMPTONS EVENT CALENDAR

Greenport Harbor Brewing Company is welcoming in 2025 with a new exhibit by local Polaroid photographer Jess Paul! Please join us for the opening reception on Saturday, January 18th from 6–9 PM at our 234 Carpenter Street location.

In her first solo exhibit, IN AN INSTANT, Ms. Paul’s Polaroid photography—part of her Memories and Mirages in Blue series—will be presented in this highly-anticipated show. In addition to her ethereal works on paper, the artist is showcasing a short film created with 1940’s/50s era movies discovered in the attic of her Grandmother’s Cutchogue home, masterfully combining them with her own modern North Fork footage.

Jess Paul is a self-taught photographer and multidisciplinary artist based on the North Fork and NYC. She grew up in North Carolina before studying English and creative writing. With her literary background, she seeks to convey a strong sense of storytelling in her visual work. Utilizing digital and film, she is deeply influenced by the natural beauty and landmarks of the North Fork and often features these subjects in her work.

According to the artist, “My move to the North Fork coincided with falling in love with Polaroid & instant photography, as I set out to document my new home with cameras both modern & vintage. I learned at that point how to do Polaroid emulsion lifts—where you take apart a Polaroid & transfer the emulsion to a new surface. This show is entirely made on Polaroid Reclaimed Blue 600 Film, a now sold out & rare type of film that I have grown to love deeply for its simplicity, contrast, & mood.  No matter what form my artistry takes or what camera & film I use, it is my deep desire to share the beauty of this special place my family & I have come to call home.”
