International Overdose Awareness Day: Free Narcan Training
In recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day, Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital invites the community to attend a free Narcan (naloxone) training on Monday, August 31 at 4 p.m. at The North Fork Shack, 41150 County Road 48, Southold, NY.
Presented with Community Action for Social Justice (CASJ), this free training will teach participants how to recognize the signs of an overdose, respond quickly and administer Narcan. Attendees will also learn about recovery resources available here on the North Fork.
This training is open to anyone who wants to be prepared to respond in an emergency and potentially help save a life.
Free Narcan kits will be distributed to participants. Light fare and mocktails will also be served.
Attendees are encouraged to wear purple in remembrance of those lost to overdose and in support of individuals, families and loved ones impacted by substance use.
